Riadhul Jannah and Mehrab Holy Ziyarat Madina
The Garden of Paradise or the Riadhul Jannah is the area between the Sacred Chamber and the Pulpit. It is now distinguished by using the green carpet and also known as the Rawdah.
It is narrated by Abu Hurrairah R.A that holy Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Between my house and my pulpit lays a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is upon my fountain (Al-Kauthar).” [Bukhari]
Some scholars interpret the narration as: the garden is in parallel to a garden above it in the Paradise, or it is actually a garden of paradise, which hereafter will be turned into Paradise. Or it is said to be the Paradise as the peace and tranquility one gets while remembering Allah in this garden is as equal to that of the peace of Paradise.
The actual size of this garden is almost 22 meters in length and 15 meters in width, it is a part of the chamber of the Prophet, peace be upon him. - Mehrab (Prayer niche):
For almost 16 months the Prophet, peace be upon him, prayed facing towards Al-Quds that is Jerusalem, after his arrival in Medinah. The fifth pillar, leaving the Ayesha pillar at one’s back, right in the line with the Bab-e Jibril, is almost the accurate spot where the Prophet, peace be upon him, led Prayer. It was near to the extreme north boundary of the original mosque.
As the Qibla changed, the Prophet, peace be upon him, offered prayer near the Column of Ayesha, while facing towards Kaabah. But soon after that, he, PBUH, started leading prayer at the place, where there is Mehrab Nabwi is nowadays.
Umar Bin Abdul Aziz made a praying niche, in 91 AH, in the form of a Mehrab. From that time it is known as Mehrab e Nabvi, peace be upon him. If one stands in Mehrab offering prayer, then the place of Sajda will be right at the place where the feet of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, would be. The place of Sajda of Prophet, peace be upon him, is covered by the thick wall of Mehrab.
- Mimbar (pulpit):
While delivering a sermon to the Ansar, the holy Prophet, peace be upon him, used to lean against the trunk of a palm tree, when he feels tired and exhausted. On this the Ansar requested to build a pulpit for him to rest, and he accepted their request. Later he delivers the teachings on sitting the new pulpit, and then the old tree yearned for him as the camel who misses its calf. At this the Holy Prophet, peace be upon hugged the trunk until it gets calmed, and then he ordered to dig a ditch and bury the trunk decently in it.
The Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, used to stand on 3rd step while delivering sermons, whereas, Abu Bakar R.A stands on 2nd step and the third Caliph stand over the 1st step. Later on, development was made and the final touch was given by Amir Muawiyyah, who made nine rung of this pulpit. The present pulpit was put in 998 A.H by the Sultan Murad.
Mehrab-e-Tahajjud Holy Ziyarat Madinah
It is said by Isa bin Abdullah R.A, “the holy Prophet, peace be upon him, used to offer a voluntary prayer by spreading mat behind the hut of Ali R.A, at the times when some visitors depart late at nights. One day someone saw him, offering a voluntary prayer at this spot during Ramadan and he started offering prayer at the same spot, and another by sawing them started following them. When Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, noticed them, he wrapped the mat and went away. Next morning on the inquiry about the matter, the Prophet, peace be upon him, replied that my concern was that if Allah made this prayer obligatory for Muslims, they will fail to hold this night prayer”.
House of Abu Bakr R.A Holy Ziyarat Madinah
This is the exact place where one of the houses of Abu Bakar placed in Medinah. This house was adjacent to the wall of the Msjid in the era of Muhammad, peace be upon him.
Although, the main door of the house was in the western wall, but he installed another door in the east wall of the house, which opens in the Mosque. It is also narrated in a Hadeeth e Nabvi, peace be upon him, “Close all doors opening in the Mosque, except the door of the House of Abu Bakar R.A”.
On expanding the Mosque by Umar R.A, he included the House in the Mosque, however, he installed a door in line of the original door of the house of Abu Bakar R.A.
It is the result of it, that whenever the Mosque would be expanded in the western direction, the door would be moved in the same line of the original door. It is due to being in obedience to the instructions of the prophet, peace be upon him. During the first Saudi extension, this was also extended and now there are three more doors in the southernmost direction of the Mosque.
